19-Year-old Arrested for Reported Machete Assault

A 19-year-old male was arrested overnight Monday after he allegedly struck a friend three times with a machete.

The victim, who talked to police at the St. John Medical Plaza ER, told police that he and the suspect, Devin Buck, had gotten into an argument on Sunday night at Buck's residence, on the 100 block of E. 24th Ct. As a result of the argument, Buck reportedly grabbed a machete and hit the victim in the back of the head, right cheek and left shoulder.

Police found that the suspect also had a felony warrant out for his arrest regarding the unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

The suspect reportedly told police he didn't call police because he had been taught to "handle his own business." Buck also told police he only hit the victim with the machete because he was afraid he would be beat up otherwise. The machete was found in a large safe at Buck's residence.

Buck was booked on complaints of assault with a deadly weapon, and was being held on $25,000 bond. He was released on bond.
