"My name is Sharayla Brown. I go to East Central. I play center. my fun fact is I like the Thunder because Kevin Durant is really cute."
Sammy Mack's East Central girls are the Green Country Conference champs this season and Shae is a big reason for that. At 6-3 she is a force in the middle. Last week against Memorial she dominated the Lady Chargers with 17-points and 17-rebounds. She's just a junior but she's already getting some D-1 looks. But right now she says her entire focus is helping the Lady Cards get over the hump and win a gold ball.
"It would mean the world to me. Because I've always wanted one since I was a freshman. And we've always been there, but never finished so this year I'm pretty sure we're going to finish. We've got three point shooters, we've got the inside. All we have to do is put it all together and just go for it."
This week's boys nominee brings us to Bixby High School. This guy is carrying on a family tradition. He's going to Oklahoma State next year.
"My name is Mitchell Solomon. I go to Bixby High School. I'm a power forward and a fun fact about me is I like to hunt."
Mitch is aiming to finish the season averaging a double double. He gets over 18-points and 10-rebounds a night. That's in the top three in class 6A in both categories. Next season he'll realize a dream by heading to Stillwater. He says getting the call to play for the Cowboys was an unbelievable feeling.
"It was almost breathe taking just realizing the opportunity that I've been given to play at such a great school. It was amazing. I've grown up, even though my favorite color is red, I've grown up being a fan of OSU. My parents went there, so it's been a dream come true to now play where my parents went to school."
Congrats to Mitchell Solomon of Bixby and to East Central's Sharayla Brown. They are your week seven nominees for the Elite 8 Ford Award.
