Arrest Made After 3 Bodies Linked to 1992 Cold Case
Authorities arrested a man in connection with a 21-year-old cold case Thursday morning after three bodies were found in near Jennings.Investigators received a tip about a month ago in the case of Wendy Camp, her 6-year-old daughter Cynthia Britto, and Wendy's sister-in-law Lisa Kregear who went missing in 1992.The tip led investigators and OSBI agents to a piece of property near Jennings. Investigators began digging at that site on April 15. By the next day, agents began uncovering the graves of three female victims. DNA will confirm the identities of the three victims, but clothing descriptions at the time of their disappearance and items of clothing found on the skeletal remains and inside the grave indicate the bodies are those of Camp, Britto, and Kregear, according to an OSBI release.Officials with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said they believe family members were involved in deaths. One relative, Grover Prewitt, Jr., 60, was arrested today on a complaint of accessory after the fact - murder, 1st degree.OSBI agents say Prewitt concealed the fact the three had been murdered and their bodies dumped in an eight-foot-deep hole originally dug for a septic tank.At the time of the murders, Prewitt sold his mother five of his 40 acres of land. The remains were found on those five acres, agents said. When they went missing in 1992, Wendy Camp had come for a visit with her daughter and sister in law. Lisa Kregear, Prewitt's sister, had driven the group from Chandler to Creek County for a visit with Wendy's young son. The trio was last seen at a Walmart.OSBI believes several others are involved in the homicides. The bureau is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the homicides. Anyone with information is urged to call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.Authorities have released a photo of the uncovered remains.
