All lanes of eastbound I-244 are back open Wednesday afternoon after a large pipe fell off of a truck causing a backup for traffic.
Initial reports state that the incident happened just before 9 a.m. at I-244 and Peoria. Officials at the scene stated that the large steel pipe broke free from the back of the trailer and rolled about 200 feet down the interstate.
Authorities told KTUL that the truck had been traveling from Kiefer, but were not able to provide the name of the company. No injuries were reported.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation set up a detour at the US-75 junction at the time of the accident. Crews were able to open the left lane of I-244 at Peoria Avenue before noon, the rest of the lanes were opened after a crane removed the pipe from the road.
