Jury Selection Underway in Court House Shooting Case
Jury selection will continue Tuesday for a man charged with a shooting at a downtown Tulsa plaza in 2012.
Andrew Dennehy's jury trial began on Monday. He's charged with shooting with intent to kill and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The case is being handled in Tulsa County court, but by prosecutors from Wagoner County. Prosecutors say jury selection will continue on Tuesday.
Court records indicate that Dennehy has pleaded not guilty in the past by reason of insanity. His case goes back to March of 2012 when prosecutors state he opened fire in the plaza between the Tulsa County courthouse and the Tulsa Central Library.
Previous reports from KTUL state that a deputy and a bystander were injured during the incident. Additional deputies arrived a short time later and returned fire on Dennehy.
Dennehy's defense have stated that he is a paranoid schizophrenic. But prosecutors in the case added that it is just an act.
More information is expected this afternoon.
