A woman was arrested by Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers after she was reportedly driving the wrong way on the Broken Arrow Expressway and I-244 late Monday night, causing a head-on crash.
The woman was first seen at 11 p.m. by Tulsa County deputies driving westbound in the eastbound lanes on the B.A. Expressway at Peoria. Authorities say they drove parallel to the suspect in the correct lane with lights and sirens on but she did not stop.
Troopers say the suspect eventually crashed into an oncoming vehicle on I-244 near 33rd West Avenue. The suspect, Jana Smith, 25, reportedly collided with a vehicle that contained a mother and two small children. The suspect and others involved were transported to the hospital but none of the injuries sustained were believed to be life-threatening.
Smith reportedly told troopers that she had shots of Captain Morgan rum and had taken some Xanax earlier in the day.
Jana Smith, 25, was booked on complaints of driving under the influence, causing a collision while DUI and eluding.
