American Airlines has had a "rough few weeks."
That's how the leader of the airline is describing recent events.
CEO Tom Horton said American is working through its issues and is improving.
The airline filed for bankruptcy last November.
Last month, only 59% of its flights were on time while all other airlines were above 85%.
The drop is being blamed partly on pilots writing up extra maintenance requests.
Several flights were canceled for maintenance issues.
Last week, American laid off 443 maintenance workers in Tulsa.
