Attack Holiday Weight Gain: Couch To 5K
As we near Thanksgiving, local fitness instructors have this advice: Attack holiday weight gain before it attacks you!
Americans can gain up to 12 pounds between now and Christmas.
So portion control and exercise are super important in the coming weeks.
One way to fight the battle of the bulge is to set a "Couch to 5K" goal for yourself.
It's a great way to get started, even if you've never run before.
Step One: Get off the sofa.
And Step Two: Find a race and commit to it.
The program involves walking and running until you are finally up to speed.
Bridget McIver is a Lifetime Run Coordinator.
She says, "In order to achieve the results that you want, you don't just want to go out and run hard, run fast. Until you get there, you've got to build your base and slowly get there in a smart way, that's going to make you enjoy running."
