BA Man Arrested for Reportedly Stabbing Neighbor with Ice Pick

A Broken Arrow man was arrested around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night after a reported quarrel between neighbors.

According to the police report, the suspect, James Billups, went to his neighbor's house to collect money that was owed to him. Upon learning his neighbor did not have the money, Billups allegedly attacked him with a hammer and ice pick.

The victim said Billups pulled a hammer from one pocket and an ice pick from the other pocket.

The victim reportedly rushed Billups to prevent any major blows, but was stabbed in the right side of the chest by the ice pick. The victim's son then intervened in the altercation and after a brief scuffle both parties were separated.

When police arrived on scene, they reportedly found Billups laying down on his back porch with a large knot on the side of his head.

The wound to the victim's chest was deemed "small" by police. Both the victim and suspect were transported to a hospital.

Billups was taken into Tulsa County Jail and is being held on $30,000 bond for assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
