Bartlesville Police Officers Rescue Sinking Boater

Two Bartlesville police officers performing their routine late night patrol quickly sprung to action Friday morning just after midnight after hearing cries for help coming from Lake Hudson.

Officers Cheyenne Lee and Jarred Burdick discovered a boater in trouble in a partially submerged jon boat approximately 50 yards off shore. The boater was trapped with his feet stuck as the boat sank.

One officer jumped in and rescued the man while another kept a flashlight on the boat and notified police dispatch.

The victim told police that he had been on the water before dark and had accidentally tipped the boat, which caused water to come in and sink the boat. He did not need to be sent to the hospital.

The Bartlesville Fire Department recovered the sunken boat from the lake.
