A Bartlesville student was taken into custody this week after authorities reportedly found a weapon in his vehicle.
Officers with the Bartlesville Police Department placed an unidentified 17-year-old student in custody Thursday afternoon. This was after a search of his vehicle turned up a weapon on school grounds.
"There is nothing more important than the safety and security of our students and staff, and we will continue to do everything possible to ensure the Bartlesville Public School District is safe," said BPSD interim superintendent, Chuck McCauley.
According to the statement release by BPS, the student will be discipline per the district's policy. Bartlesville police are handling the investigation.
An initial investigation stated that there was never any intent to cause harm to students or staff at the school.
