Bell Outshines QB Competition In Sooners' Spring Game

Blake Bell threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns in Oklahoma's spring game Saturday for the best performance of the three candidates trying to become the next starting quarterback.

Bell, a junior, scrambled and threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Durron Neal in the second quarter of the scrimmage and later added a score on a short pass that running back Roy Finch turned into a 49-yard TD. However, Bell took a sack and got hit as he threw on the final play as his attempt at a game-winning drive failed.

Sophomore Kendal Thompson threw for 151 yards and a 14-yard touchdown lob to David Smith that provided the White team a 28-24 victory.

Redshirt freshman Trevor Knight threw for 86 yards and a touchdown, but also fumbled a snap that resulted in a defensive score.
