Bixby Crews Attempt to Rescue Man Inside Fatal House Fire
One man was killed early Monday morning during a house fire that took place southeast of Bixby.Bixby Fire Department was called around 3:45 a.m. to the 8500 block of East 169th St. South. At the scene they discovered the residence fully involved in flames.Bixby Fire Chief Steve Able told KTUL that it took firefighters nearly an hour to control the blaze. At that point there was no other danger to surrounding residences or the area.During their fire attack Bixby Police notified them that there was a possible subject inside the house. Fire crews were directed to the area where officers heard screaming and found the subject inside and removed him.Upon his removal, EMSA units began resuscitation efforts which proved unsuccessful. Outside the house were two females who told officials that the man was originally outside and went back inside to possible find someone else.At this time there is no official word on how the fire began. Oklahoma and Bixby Fire Marshals are at the scene continuing their investigation.
