Blackwell Police Say Man Died From Extreme Heat

Sgt. John Mitchell of the Blackwell Police Department says a man died as a result of the extreme heat.Officers received a call Monday just after 5 p.m. of an unconscious man in Legion Park.EMS arrived to find Marcelino Calderon-Mora, 69, breathing but unresponsive.Doctors treated Calderon-Mora for a heat stroke, but he died a few hours later.Blackwell EMS reported his core body temperature was 108 degrees, but their equipment only reaches to 108, meaning his core temperature could have been higher.A lawn mower was found with him, but it is unknown whether he was mowing at the time.Calderon-Mora was best known for the odd jobs he often did for people of the Blackwell community.
