New Oklahoma starting quarterback Blake Bell was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week Monday. The Wichita native was 27-37 for 413 yards and four touchdowns. His 413 is the most ever by a Sooner quarterback making his starting debut.Oklahoma has had some really good throwing quarterbacks during the Bob Stoops era, but at 6-6 263 pounds, Bell is different than any we've seen come through Norman in a while."Blake isn't quite as quick as Kendall (Thompson) or Trevor (Knight). Those guys are very quick and elusive." said Coach Stoops, "Blake though is stronger. If someone one grabs him he can run through arm tackles and if someone is bumping him the pocket he can stand up to it and still be able to get his balance and deliver the ball. So those things are to his advantage. Seeing over linemen, seeing over pressure. Those things help him definitely."Blake and the Sooners have the week off before heading to South Bend to play the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame Saturday, September the 28th at 2:30pm.
