Body Found In Arkansas River Identified

Timothy Erwin

The body discovered on the banks of the Arkansas River in Sand Springs on Monday has been identified.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office said it received conclusive information from the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office on Thursday, identifying the body as 43-year-old Timothy Don Erwin.

The cause of death has not yet been ruled as a drowning and is still under investigation while the ME awaits toxicology reports, according to sheriff's office.

The body did not have any obvious signs of trauma that would lead investigators to believe there was foul play in connection with his death, authorities said.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is still asking anyone that might have had contact with Erwin before his death contact the case investigator at 918-596-8661.

The body was recovered around 8 p.m. Monday near the Hwy. 97 bridge in Sand Springs.
