A body was found inside a Sequoyah County home that burned two weeks ago.
Deputies with the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Officer were made aware of the unidentified man's body after initially believing the home was vacant. The house fire burned in Gans located southeast of Sallisaw.
"When we got here the home was totally engulfed, and we did what we could do. We're a volunteer fire department," said a member of Gans volunteer fire department. "There are things that might have been overlooked, but we did the best we could at the time," said the fire chief.
KTUL's sister station in Arkansas, 40/29 TV, states authorities believe they know the identity of the man killed. But a medical examiner will have to continue the investigation.
Fire investigators say they don't yet know how the fire started.
