BROKEN ARROW, OK - Friday, August 22, 2014 by unanimous vote of all members present, the Broken Arrow Firefighters Union voted to endorse veteran firefighter, Deputy Chief James Suddath, as their next fire chief. According to a press release, h ired in 1991, Chief Suddath is a 23-year veteran of the Department and long-time resident of Broken Arrow.

Broken Arrow Firefighters have been without a permanent fire chief since April 19, 2013. Since 2004, the Department has experienced eight leadership changes.

Firefighters President John Cockrell believes hiring another outside chief is not the correct decision for the City of Broken Arrow.

"Chief Suddath has a proven track record of protecting the community and is extremely capable of leading the Broken Arrow Fire Department into the next decade," said Cockrell. "The firefighters of Broken Arrow need consistency in leadership and we believe Chief Suddath is that individual. The Citizens of Broken Arrow deserve a Fire Chief who is well established and invested in this community."
