Brothers Take Over ORU Soccer Programs
Siblings in sports are all the rage these days, especially in the coaching ranks. Just look back to Super Bowl XLVII, which featured the Harbaugh brothers going against each other. The NFL also features Rex and Rob Ryan. In college football, just here in the state of Oklahoma, there are the Stoops brothers (both at OU), and the Gundy brothers. That trend extends to Tulsa, where ORU has Scott and Sean Sutton on the men's basketball coaching staff. Now, the Golden Eagles can add another set of coaching brothers to the list - Roger and Ryan Bush. Ryan, who played two seasons of soccer at ORU, is the new men's soccer coach. Previously, he was the women's soccer coach - and his brother Roger was his assistant. Now, Roger has taken over the women's program.Just like every other sibling relationship, Roger and Ryan are ultra-competitive, both on and off of the field. They do agree on one thing, though - that their family is the driving force behind both of them becoming head coaches."The upbringing that we had from our parents, it's been filled with love," Roger says. "Honestly, that's been the foundation for us wanting to reach out and teach and coach."Both Ryan and Roger will coach their debut games for their respective teams in August.
