Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Burt Mummolo has been a reporter at Channel 8 since 2004. An alumni of Bishop Kelley High School (Go Comets!), he attended Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA, graduating with a degree in English.
He spent several years floundering in the world of law before finally coming to his senses, abandoning any J.D. aspirations. The next three years were spent as a waiter in an Italian restaurant, much to the chagrin of his grandmother, even though she's Italian herself.
His first foray into television came via a cable access station in Newton, MA, where he produced his own variety show for several years before venturing into news. He served as the News Director at Newton Cable Communications for three years. In 2002, he moved to Lubbock, Texas to be a general assignment reporter at KCBD, the local NBC affiliate. In the Fall of '04 he moved back to Tulsa to report for KTUL, NewsChannel 8.
Burt is addicted to running. He ran the Boston Marathon in 2007 and is looking forward to the Rome Marathon in 2009. When he's not at the station, which is rare, he loves running around LaFortune park or along Riverside. His favorite band is REM. His news icons are Robert Hager, Richard Schlesinger, Anthony Mason, Steve Hartman, and Fred Hoosey.
