Central Library Moving To Old Safeway Store For Renovations
Making way for progress.
Tulsa's Central Library is setting up house in an unusual location.
Starting next spring, the library will begin renovations.
So it's moving operations to the old Safeway store at 12th and Denver.
It's a temporary location until the work is complete.
"It's about a fifth of the size as the Central Library," says Library CEO Gary Shaffer. "So we'll be looking to offer some of our more popular services here. And then what we'll do is we have many offices at the Central Library. Those will be located at an office building that hasn't been determined yet Downtown."
The newly renovated library will reopen in 2015.
The project costs $47-million and will be paid for in-part by Vision 2 if approved.
