Chloramine Coming To Skiatook Drinking Water

Within the year, customers in Skiatook could see a difference in their drinking water.

Just like Tulsa did, the city is switching the way they keep the water clean.

Skiatook will soon use chloramine. The disinfection process combines chlorine with ammonia.

Critics say the water tastes and smells bad.

But city officials disagree.

City Manager dan Yancey says, "No not really. It's going to be basically the same water as you get in the city of Tulsa. So there really won't be much of a difference."

The conversion process should be compete by next Spring.
