Runners and walkers celebrated Cinco de Mayo a little early Friday with the Cinco de Mayo 5K and Fun Run. The race took place at Veteran's Park Friday evening.
The event also featured the Zoomerangs, more than 100 kids from local elementary schools that had been training for the 5K. The completion of the 5K signified their completion of the training program.
The program was instituted as a way to fight obesity, as Oklahoma regularly ranks among the most obese states in the country.
Proceeds from the Cinco de Mayo run went back to local schools with the best participation in the event.
