Are taxpayers footing the bill for city mowing, when homeowners should actually be dong the job?
City Councilor Phil Lakin is taking a closer look at the issue.
He thinks thousands of city dollars are being wasted by mowing right of ways on privately owned property.
Lakin says, many times, homeowners just don't know they're responsible.
"A lot of times, people will buy a home that backs up to a main artery, like Harvard. And technically they're responsible for mowing that patch of grass between Harvard and their back fence. Sometimes the city is taking care of that."
Lakin is hoping the money saved by notifying the homeowners can be used elsewhere in the city.
