A church in Green Country went up in flames. It happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday night.
Claremore Fire Department Battalion Chief Marty Osborne says the Christ Presbyterian Church was destroyed by the fire.
Osborne says the firefighters had a hard time getting to the fire's source because the metal roof. Floating debris filled the air, but firefighters managed to protect nearby buildings.
Several nearby departments helped put out the fire.
Osborne says one firefighter was sent to the hospital. He was overheated when he was fighting the fire from an aerial platform and the roof caved in. He was treated and released.
Crews worked at the site until just before 3:30 Sunday afternoon.
The fire marshal is investigating what started the fire.
