Chili Cook-Off For a Cause
The smell of spices and wood smoke filled the air near Downtown Tulsa, Saturday.
It was all a part of American Legion Post One's annual chili cook-off.
Organizers tell KTUL.com, that it's all done to give back to veterans in the Tulsa area who are in need.
Christian Baughman with the Legion said service members help veterans that are homeless or in need of financial assistance.
"It's great when we get the community together to help our veterans who've helped us provide a freedom that we can't get anywhere else," said Baughman.
There's also more to the cook-of than just chili.
According to Baughman, they will have a number of bands playing throughout the night. There's also a silent raffle for folks to participate in.
The event lasts until Sunday at 3 a.m. Tickets to get in the door are $10.
The post in Tulsa is the longest continuous running American Legion post in the nation, according to Baughman.
