43-year-old Tayler Warren and 39-year-old Robert "Curt" Rogers were held in the Delaware County Jail over the weekend after their arrest on Saturday evening.
Probable Cause affidavits were filed on both for a variety of charges in connection with the recovery of nearly one pound of "crystal" methamphetamine, a loaded firearm and about $775 in cash.
Warren and Rogers were charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Rogers was also charged with possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.
Sheriff Harlan Moore said just after 7:00 p.m. Saturday, Detective Brandon Houston was driving north on Highway 59 and observed a vehicle parked along the shoulder of the roadway near county road S590. It appeared a male and female were involved in a verbal dispute. Detective Houston stopped to investigate and make sure there was no violence.
As he talked with the couple, he observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. He also noticed live ammunition and asked about the presence of a gun.
Rogers told him Warren always carried a firearm. During further questioning, Houston recovered a loaded small caliber revolver. He also recovered the drug paraphernalia from the floorboard of the vehicle. He verified what appeared to be illegal methamphetamine.
Both Warren and Rogers were placed under arrest. A further search of the car resulted in the recovery of a larger quantity of methamphetamine which was stored in a grocery sack among several others in the back seat of their car.
The couple admitted just leaving Grove where they'd gone to shop and eat. They became involved in an argument on the way home, which lead to Warren getting out of the car on the shoulder of the roadway.
Tayler Warren and Curt Rogers were arraigned Monday morning. Warren has a bond of $25,000 and Rogers has a bond of $30,000. Both made bond following their court appearances.
