Native American Adoption Case Heading To Supreme Court
A South Carolina couple's fight to adopt an Oklahoma girl will now head to the Supreme Court.
You may remember the story of Veronica Rose. Matt and Melanie Capobianco thought they adopted her and raised her from birth for two years in their South Carolina home.
But Veronica's father, a Native American with Cherokee heritage, brought Veroncia back to Oklahoma to live with him. It's possible under the Indian Child Welfare Act.
Supreme court justices announced Friday that they will hear the case this year, according to court documents and SCOTUSBlog.com.
It's unclear when that case may be heard.
