It was a great turnout for Story Time at Guthrie Green Wednesday morning.
Tulsa City Councilor G.T. Bynum and his children read a popular Curious George story.
Curious George himself even showed up to meet the children.
Bynum says events like this are a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy something as a group.
"We live in a time where kids spend a lot of time watching TV and playing video games and stuff, and it was great to see kids out today reading books and see that there's parents who think it's important their kids are exposed to books as well," Bynum says.
Bynum says reading just means spending quality time together. "It doesn't have to be the encyclopedia or history books, it can just be fun books that kids like to read together," Bynum says.
The Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers organized the event and made sure each child got a copy of the book to take home.
The Red Dirt Rangers even played a short children's program.
Story Time at Guthrie Green ties into Food Truck Wednesdays.
