Dentist to Meet With Board About HIV, Hepatitis Accusations
The Tulsa dentist at the center of a public health scare involving thousands of his patients is to talk with state Dentistry Board executives by the week's end. Board director Susan Rogers says she will likely meet with Dr. W. Scott Harrington and his attorney by telephone on Friday. Rogers says she plans to present evidence collected against Harrington, who is cooperating with authorities. He also faces an April 19 hearing at which his license could be revoked. Health officials last month urged 7,000 patients to be tested for possible exposure to hepatitis or the virus that causes AIDS after finding unsanitary conditions at his Tulsa and Owasso clinics. The dental board called Harrington a "menace to the public health." The spread of disease in dental offices is rare. Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
