Department of Public Safety Releases Traffic Fatality Figures

The Department of Public Safety released a report showing a decrease in traffic fatalities.

According to the report, year to date fatalities through Nov. 28 totaled 596, 52 fatalities less than the previous year to date count.

In October of this year, there were 54 traffic fatalities, two less than the count in October 2011.

Tulsa County leads the states with 10 fatal collisions, followed by Rogers County with a total of five fatalities.

According to the DPS, 50 percent of all who were killed in accidents were not wearing seatbelts.

The report states that the leading number of fatalities by age group were 21-30 years-old with a total 12.

The highest number of fatal crashes occurred on U.S. Highways with 15 deaths. 14 fatalities occurred on county roads.
