Residents affected by the Quapaw tornado have one more opportunity to receive assistance from the U.S. Small Business Association.
Representatives with the SBA's Disaster Assistance Office will close the Quapaw center Thursday evening. It's located at the Robert Whitebird Cultural Center on Whitebird Street.
"Until the Quapaw center closes, SBA customer service representatives will continue to be available to meet with residents and business owners to answer all of their questions, explain SBA's disaster loan program and help them complete their applications," District Director Roderick Cox stated.
Yolanda Stokes with the organization told KTUL that the Disaster Assistance Office is an offshoot of the SBA responding to communities affected by natural disasters like the Quapaw tornado. The office has been offering low interest federal disaster loans to residents interested in receiving assistance.
Stokes added that anyone affected by the tornado should drop by the office whether they think they will receive assistance or not. Renters are even eligible for assistance.
Residents wishing to talk to a representative before the office closes can drop by until 7 p.m. Thursday or call (800) 659-2955 . There is no need to bring any documents.
