Drinking Water Safe Again for Colcord Residents
Residents of a town east of Tulsa have been cleared to drink tap water Thursday after red worms were found in the water supply last month.
Colcord Mayor Pat Upton stated a ban on drinking the water was lifted this week after tests showed no problems with the water supply, according to a report from the Associated Press.
Previous reports stated that worms ranging from a half-inch to an inch long showed up late last month in the water supply in Colcord, a small town of 815 people near the Arkansas border about 80 miles east of Tulsa.
Residents had been asked not to consume the water until more tests were completed. Officials had said the worms weren't a health threat to people but acknowledged that it wasn't appealing.
The local school district was closed for several days. And bottled water was provided to residents at no cost.
