Electrical Fire Forces Patients Out of Sallisaw Hospital

Patients at a Sallisaw hospital were evacuated after a fire broke out just before noon Thursday.

Firefighters were called out to the Sequoyah Memorial Hospital after receiving reports of a fire from employees in the building. The hospital is located in Sequoyah County southeast of Tulsa.

Officials at the scene stated that fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames. An initial report states that the cause was electrical and that it began in the attic of the building.

Crews placed large fans around the building to rid the building of the smoke. Fifteen patients and all employees were allowed inside the building after noon.

No injuries were reported at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to contain the flames to just one room.
