Electronic Cigarette Meeting Postponed in Tahlequah

A meeting intended to push for the banning on electronic cigarettes on Tahlequah city property has been put on hold for the time being because of push-back from businesses that sell e-cigarettes as well as users of the products.

Those in favor of the ban on e-cigarettes, namely the Cherokee County Communities of Excellence Tobacco Control Program, withdrew their request to city council to address the issue this week.

Tahlequah mayor Jason Nichols says that the suspension of the meeting does not necessarily mean that the topic is dead, and that the city will continue to look into the issue.
