Elizabeth Matthews

Elizabeth Matthews joined NewsChannel 8 as the station's first Videojournalist in May 2010.

She comes to Tulsa from Joplin, Missouri station KOAM-TV.{} While there, she did everything from reporting to anchoring and producing.{} At NewsChannel 8 she is a one man band, sometimes shooting and editing her own stories.Born in raised in a small town in Illinois, Elizabeth likes small town living but is glad to now call Tulsa, Oklahoma home.

Elizabeth graduated from Columbia College in Chicago where she majored in Journalism with a concentration in Broadcast.{} A mini-documentary that she co-produced there won at the FirstLook film festival and some of her stories were chosen to run on the Open Student Television Network. While she misses the Windy City, she enjoys the slower pace of life. She realized becoming a journalist was her calling after being the editor for her high school yearbook.{} Other passions include ballet, reading, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, disc golf and "being green."{} In fact, at her last station she single handedly kept the recycling program alive, being known as the "Green Queen." When not at the station she is always looking for the next big story, so feel free to send her your story ideas.
