Getting emergency help here in Tulsa is soon going to cost you more.
The monthly cost for EMSA and first responders is going up from $3.64 to $5.45 In September.
It covers the cost of an ambulance ride after insurance is paid.
The money will help offset the rising cost of fuel and other expenses for both fire and EMSA.
City Councilor Phil Lakin says, "A lot of our budgets were created back when fuel was a $1.50 and 1.60. And now we're at whatever it costs to fill up a big engine."
The fee increase is locked-in for five years.
