Wagoner Deputies Step Up Enforcement Across County
Increases in enforcement continue to take place across Wagoner County.
Wagoner County Sheriff Bob Colbert has added more than 15 deputies since taking office in 2009. The county is located southeast of Tulsa.
One of the changes the Colbert made was increasing the number of investigators, according to a report from the Coweta American. There are now a total of five compared to just one when he took office.
Recent reports show that crime calls are down and the jail has fewer inmates than in recent years. Colbert attributes the decrease in crime to the increase in deputies.
KTUL also learned this week that the WCSO recently purchased a new boat that would help them patrol communities around Fort Gibson Lake. It cost them $50,000.
And in Porter the WCSO has take over law enforcement for the town. This happened after the town's only full-time officer lost his job.
Colbert added that he hopes to increase presence in the areas of Rocky Point and Mallard's Bay.
