Fallin Coming to Tulsa Area, Touring with Bartlett
Governor Mary Fallin announced that she would tour storm damage and hold a press conference with Mayor Dewey Bartlett Friday afternoon.Fallin's office told KTUL that the governor and Bartlett would begin their address outside of the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. The event would begin at 6 p.m.Back on Wednesday, Fallin declared a State of Emergency for 35 counties due to the severe storms that rolled through the Tulsa area earlier this week. Some of the counties included were: Creek, Latimer, Okmulgee, Pittsburg and Tulsa."Heavy winds and flooding have lead to damage throughout the state and left many without power, especially in the Tulsa metro," Fallin stated in a press release. "Both government and private sector resources are being utilized to help those affected." Under the Executive Order, state agencies can make emergency purchases and acquisitions needed to expedite the delivery of resources to local jurisdictions. The declaration also marks a first step toward seeking federal assistance should it be necessary.
