Fewer Homeowners Behind On Their Mortgages
Homeowners are doing a better job of keeping up with their mortgage payments -- helped by an improving housing market and low interest rates that are making it easier to refinance. The percentage of homeowners behind at least two months on their payments fell in the latest quarter - the lowest point in more than three years.
5.41 percent of mortgage holders are behind in payments - the lowest rates since the first quarter of 2009. Still that is well above the 1 to 2 percent average historical range - an indication that many homeowners are still struggling.
