One man did not make it out alive in a house fire that badly damaged a home shortly before 1 p.m. today.
The fire was located on the 1500 block of E. 59th Pl. Crews reported seeing heavy smokes and flames when they arrived, and were told there was someone still inside the home.
The heat and flames were too expansive for the 30 firefighters that responded to search the home, so they worked to get the fire under control. After searching the home, they found a body. The victim has been identified as Randal Zimmer, 51.
KTUL crews saw a woman who lived in the home make it out safely, but she was hysterical.
The temperature is currently sitting in the low to mid 90s, which made firefighting conditions especially tough today, a spokesperson with TFD said.
Investigators are currently on scene at the home.
