Floats, Bands to March in Tulsa's Parade of Lights

The Tulsa Downtown Parade of Lights will kick off at 6 p.m. near 400 S. Elgin Ave.

The parade route changed after a water main broke, Friday afternoon. The repairs have forced the route to change slightly.

Area residents planning to attend Saturday's parade should be aware that planned path has changed ever since a water main broke early Thursday morning at Fourth Street and Cheyenne.

City officials announced that the new path has the parade beginning at Fourth Street and Elgin. Participants then travel to Boulder and up First Street to Elgin once more. It will no longer go past the BOK Center.

Tulsans who are planning on attending events at the PAC should also make note of the affected streets.

This year, organizers are expecting 25-thousand people to attend the parade. They'll see more than 60-parade entries, including homemade floats, decorated cars and bands from all over Oklahoma.

And all those that can't attend this year's parade can tune in to Tulsa's Channel 8 Saturday beginning at 6 p.m.
