Tulsa's Channel 8 has learned of the passing of former city councilman and lifelong Tulsa resident Roscoe Turner.
Turner, 81, was born in Tulsa on Feb. 16, 1932 and served as the District 3 City Councilor for multiple terms.
Turner graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1949.
He was an activist at City Hall and continued to help and give back to the citizens of Tulsa.
Mayor Dewey Bartlett released a statement regarding Turner's passing.
"Former Tulsa City Councilor Roscoe Turner was very passionate about representing his community and was certainly not a quitter. Winning his council seat many times, the former councilor was straight forward and vocal about his opinions and his love of his community and city was very obvious," Bartlett said.
