Internal Investigation in Miami Leads to Termination of Four Officers

Four Miami police officers were terminated this week for allegedly violating department policies and procedures.

The City of Miami notified the officers of their termination after completing an internal investigation by the Miami Police Department. Miami is located in northeast Oklahoma in Ottawa County.

Few details were provided regarding the internal investigation, but that the officers violated how they interacted with each other, according to the release provided.

"Our police department has policies and procedures in place that guide how officers interact with each other," City Manager Jeff Bishop stated. "After receiving the results of an internal investigation conducted by a third party, it was determined the officers in question had violated these policies and procedures."

Officials are not provided the names of the officers terminated because of the City's personnel privacy policies. Mayor Rudy Schultz provided his support for the decision.

"This action shows the emphasis the City places on upholding the professional standards of our police force."
