A grass fire that got out of control east of Skiatook is now contained Tuesday morning.
Officials with the Skiatook Fire Department told KTUL that the grass fire began as a controlled burn Monday evening. This was in the area of Highway 75 and State Highway 20.
Firefighters were notified that the controlled burn got out of hand late Monday due to the strong winds. Officials were able to minimize the threat to surrounding structures.
Crews were able minimize the blaze and contain it before 9 a.m. Tuesday. No injuries were reported.
