'Grocery Store on Wheels' to Bring Fresh Produce to Tulsa's Underserved Areas

Tulsa's first 'grocery store on wheels' was unveiled to the public this week.

The "Real Good Food Truck" is starting to roll through the streets of T-Town after being shown off at a community event Thursday evening.

According to officials, nearly 84,000 Tulsans live in a "food desert," where there's little or no access to a real grocery store, which is what the R&G

Family Grocers hope to change.

The mobile grocery store will be stocked full of fresh, local produce, dairy, lean meats, grains and dry goods -- and plans to make twice-weekly stops

in six north Tulsa locations and six west Tulsa locations, plus some senior living facilities.

R&G Family Grocers is funded through grants from the Helmerich Foundation and George Kaiser Family Foundation.
