Gus Malzahn Named AP Coach of the Year

A year ago the Auburn Tigers had won just three game and zero in the SEC. This season first year head coach Gus Malzahn has War Eagle in the national championship.

Because of that turn around the former Springdale High School head coach and University of Tulsa assistant is named the Associated Press Coach of the Year.

He received 33 of the possible 56-votes. Duke's David Cutcliffe was second with 17. Florida State's Jimbo Fisher and Michigan State's Mark Dantonio each received three votes.

"It's very humbling," Malzahn said Monday. "Any time you get awards like this, it's a team thing, as far as our staff and our players. It's been fun to be a part of this year." Malzahn and the #2 Tigers will tangle with the #1 Florida State Seminoles for the National Title on January the 6th from the Rose Bowl.
