Insurance Hackers Get Personal Information Of 534 Oklahomans

Hackers attack an Ohio-based insurance company.

And Channel 8 has learned, the personal information of 534 Oklahomans has been compromised..

The computer network used by Nationwide Insurance and Allied Insurance was attacked in early October.

The FBI says, the hackers were able to access social security numbers, driver's license numbers, birth dates, genders and occupations.

However, right now it does not appear that information has been misused at this point.

Insurance Commissioner John Doak says, "If any consumer out there is with nationwide insurance and would like to talk to the Oklahoma Insurance Department about the issue, please contact our office. We'll do our very best to help them."

That number is 1-800-522-0071.

Nationwide Insurance is notifying their affected customers and taking steps to protect their credit.
