Highway 75 Overpass Should Save More Lives

It's hoped a new bridge over Highway 75 in Owasso will help save more lives.

Road work is slated to begin Monday at 116th Street North.

East and westbound lanes will be closed at that junction.

Over the years, a number of people have died at that location trying to either cross or get on Highway 75.

So ODOT is planning to construct a $7-million overpass.

Federal money made the project possible now.

"It was actually scheduled for 2016 construction." ODOT's Randle White said Thursday. "But some funding became available for us. And it allowed us to move the project up. We had the project plans already done."

The project should last about nine months.

Until then, drivers on Highway 75 are asked to stay alert and slow down in that work zone.
