Mental Evaluation Ordered for Teen Accused of Plotting Bartlesville School Shooting
A Washington County judge ordered a mental examination for a teenager accused of plotting a mass shooting at a Bartlesville school.Sammie Eaglebear Chavez, 18, is charged with attempting or conspiring to perform an act of violence, according to court records.On Wednesday, Chavez was back in court for his formal arraignment where a judge ordered a mental competency examination.Back in February, a judge decided that there was enough "probable cause" for Chavez to commit the crime. Court documents showed that he would stand trial.Chavez was arrested after he tried to recruit fellow Bartlesville High School students to assist in Columbine-style school shooting, according to a court affidavit.
